I really enjoyed this book! The story is very creative. It's not a retread or a knock-off of your typical fantasy schlock that so often passes for "new" these days. The author actually did her own thing. Very cool! The characters are diverse and engaging. The good guys are really good, and the bad guys are really bad, and then there are a few in that shady grey area where you just aren't quite sure right up to the end. And this book is funny! Not knee slapping, guffawing funny, but smart funny. Wink, wink, nod, nod funny. I loved that! I chuckled a lot reading this book.
Just when I thought there were no original ideas left in the literary world, I found this book. This is a clever story that has not been told before. I wanted to root for all of the characters in this book at once. This book will appeal to history lovers, thrill seekers, and readers of many genres. I am looking forward to the next book in the series!
Awesome book. Great characters and intriguing twists throughout. The author has a way with putting a spin on history. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Must read!
If the smoking hot demon who brought down the Shang Dynasty in 1046 BC were running around New York trying to steal the five most powerful books ever created, who would be there to stop her? A librarian, of course. When one of the great books is stolen, and a Guardian is beaten and left for dead, Kira Davidson will lead the other Guardians in a campaign against this ancient evil. At her side is Flavius Arbogast, a former general for the Roman Empire. Arby has been a Guardian since his father’s death, in 385 BC. They enlist the help of a former KGB agent, a French art thief, and Arby’s wise-cracking, aid-de-camp, Max. Together, these Guardians must find a way to prevent the demon from collecting all five books and unleashing a devastating power on the people of New York.
